A Weekend in NYC

Stir crazy? Book a ticket to New York City for the weekend and strut the streets of the Big Apple with your best friend. There’s no better cure for seasonal depression than jet setting to explore America’s favorite metropolitan melting pot. Audrey and I ate our way through the city and hit all our favorite spots in the West Village. An unforgettable weekend to say the least! Keep reading for all the deets on brunches, the best dinners, and local spots for late night drinks!

Brunch Spots

Caffé Dante is a must. Located on Hudson Street in the West Village, Dante has a carefully curated seasonal menu. I enjoyed almond milk pancakes with field berry compote and sheep’s milk yogurt, and of course sipped on an oat milk latte. We sat outdoors at the cutest table complete with sage green dishes and it was 60 degrees and sunny, quite the perfect morning.

The Mary Lane was another fave this weekend. Sunday brunch consisted of… you guessed it! Pancakes, but this time infused with ginger and an apple compote on top. No brunch with the girls is complete without a mimosa tray, and it came with apple cider, cranberry juice, and blood orange juice pour ins to customize our champagne. The oat milk lattes were impeccable as well.

Day 1 Sightseeing

The best days are the ones without a plan, in my opinion. We meandered through Washington Square Park and West Village Streets and took photos on Grove, McDougal, and Bleecker. We later made our way over to the Highline and we stopped by various venders selling art. We walked down to Chelsea Square Market and we even walked along the Hudson River and marveled at the city scape behind us. It was a day full of exploration and fun conversation as we people watched and dreamed of a life in the city.

Dinner and Drinks <3

Sagra Italian is the place to go for authentic pizza and pasta that tastes straight from Firenze. We shared spaghetti and a margarita pizza with extra chili flakes and sampled an Aperol Spritz and Gimlet. We were sat at a family style table and I surprisingly loved how close we were to other families and couples, it was so fun to imagine their story .

St. Theos on Bleecker Street is THE spot for drinks. We ordered beignets and ‘The Tadzio’ specialty drinks. The atmosphere was bustling with what seemed to be the local New York crowd and we camped out for hours at our table.

Oppa Bistro was our Saturday night dinner of choice and we inhaled korean tapas… sweet potato noodles with vegetables, broccolini, and a hot toddy were perfect on a chillier night.

The Little Prince was where we ended our night. I suggest an espresso martini and sharing a basket of the truffle fries. They were absolutely incredible. It was chaotic in the best way: loud music, energetic conversations… waiters passed out maracas when the music turned up and the whole restaurant came alive. It felt straight out of a movie.

Day 2 Sightseeing

Highlights from today include the Vessel and walking through Greenich Village all the way up to Chelsea and Hudson Yards. I had my first slice of street pizza and I ate it on its paper plate as I walked in my heels to our next destination. We sat outside by the cutest coffee shop and edited our thousands of photos from the weekend before the sun set and we changed for din.

Last Day, Snow Day

We awoke Sunday morning to an early Valentine’s gift from mother nature… to our surprise, the city was covered in a light dusting of snow. We put on our vday fits and big coats and then walked down to Trader Joes to buy a bouquet of flowers. We had a whole photoshoot, duh. Big fat flakes swooped down from the sky and settled in my hair and I could even feel them on my eyelashes. I ran around the streets like a happy kid; the Floridian in me couldn’t contain my excitement at the winter wonderland that we had all to ourselves early that morning.
